Haryana Assembly.
The Haryana government is on the back foot regarding the Dead Bodies Respect Bill 2023 to be brought during the winter session starting from December 15. After this law is made, people will not be able to protest by placing the dead body of any dead person on the road to get their demands met, but the controversy has arisen regarding making a provision under this law, under which during treatment in private hospitals, If a person dies, the family will get the body only after paying the full treatment bill.
The opposition has alleged that the Haryana government was initially going to make a provision in this law that if a person dies during treatment in private hospitals, there will be no restriction on paying the entire bill for the treatment and the family will be able to get the dead body. But under pressure from private hospitals, this provision has been changed to the opposite.
However, Haryana CM Manohar Lal is directly saying that now this bill will be presented in the winter session starting from Friday, it will be discussed and only after that a decision will be taken on it.
Clash over proposed bill
At the same time, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij directly said that there will be no provision in this bill by which such permission would be given to private hospitals.
But Congress directly says that on one hand, the Haryana government is talking about discussing this bill, but on the other hand, till now the copy of this bill has not been given to the opposition, so that the opposition can know that ultimately this bill will be discussed. What is in the bill?
Congress MLA said attack
Former Haryana Cabinet Minister and Congress MLA Geeta Bhukkal said that it has become the habit of the government to bring any bill in a hurry and get it passed by creating ruckus in the House and the opposition cannot get any information on that bill. And no chance to speak.
There is constant confusion regarding this bill of Haryana Government. A provision is also being made in this bill that if there is a jam and demonstration by keeping the dead body on the road or highway, there can be a fine of Rs 50,000 and jail, but what will be the format of this bill and what will be included in this bill regarding the arbitrariness of private hospitals. There is a continuing controversy over what provisions have been kept.
