The TLC (Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes) program was started by the National Lung, Heart and Brain Institute in 1985 to combat the growing problem of obesity and improve the heart health of Americans. The obesity epidemic has hit India too – the latest NFHS figures show that 24 per cent of Indian women and 23 per cent of Indian men are obese.
