According to Hirokazu, the description of the Senkaku Islands in the map is based on Beijing’s claims. According to NHK World (Japanese public broadcaster), Hirokazu said that the islands are unquestionably an “inherent part” of Japan’s territory in terms of both history and international law.
China rejected Japan’s claims
He said Japan has lodged a strong protest with Beijing through diplomatic channels and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the details on the map. However, according to NHK, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson has rejected the Japanese government’s protest over the description of Japan’s Senkaku Islands in a new map released by Beijing.
