Responding to BJP's allegations, Karnataka Transport Minister and Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy rejected BJP's allegations and said the government is not taking the money, it will be used for religious council purposes.
Speaking to a news channel, he said that BJP had also done this during its time, they took 5 percent from temples with income ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. For income above Rs 25 lakh he took 10 per cent. According to this bill, temples earning more than Rs 1 crore will have to pay tax up to 10 percent.
