IND vs T20I Series: In the absence of almost all the white-ball regulars following the ODI World Cup campaign, one of the standout aspects of India’s 4-1 T20I series win against Australia has been the performance of Ravi Bishnoi. After taking 9 wickets in 5 matches in the competition, Bishnoi was rewarded with the Player of the Series trophy. Going by the performance, the youngster not only staked his claim as a contender for the T20 World Cup squad but also earned special praise from the great Muttiah Muralitharan.
Vishnoi’s record in the series was excellent
The Indian young spinner has performed well in the competition against Australia. In the 5-match T20 series, he has taken 15 wickets at an average of 19.20. The performance of Bishnoi and Axar Patel in the fourth and fifth T20Is has been the most notable and attraction. Where he bowled a mix format to baffle the audience and bring variation.
Special notice given to Ravi Bishnoi
Speaking to Geo Cinema ahead of the start of the final and fifth match of the series in Bengaluru, Muralitharan was full of praise for the Indian spin bowling line-up, but reserved his words specifically for Bishnoi. “India has had a good set of spinners in every generation. You can see from Anil (Kumble) to Ravi, Ashwin and the young guys who have come now. Bishnoi is different from any other leg spinner.” Muralitharan said, “He bowls fast and he slides the ball a lot and Axar Patel is also very accurate, does not turn the ball much. Washington Sundar also does the same because he does not turn much and is very Accurate and very fast.”
Got a chance to debut in the Indian team after IPL
Bishnoi made his T20 International debut in February last year after a stellar performance in the Indian Premier League. With the T20 World Cup in Australia that year, Bishnoi was one of the contenders before falling behind in the pecking order to Yuzvendra Chahal. However, he followed up with better performances in the Ireland series in August, the Asian Games and the Australia competition, in which he took 18 wickets in 10 matches. Bishnoi has once again taken the lead in the race for a place in the World Cup squad for the upcoming tournament in West Indies and USA in June.
