Why do earthquakes happen?
Actually, there is always upheaval inside the earth which looks calm from above. The plates present inside the earth keep colliding with each other due to which earthquakes occur every year. Before understanding the science of earthquake, we have to understand the structure of the plates present under the earth. Actually our earth is situated on 12 tectonic plates. The energy released when these plates collide is called an earthquake. These plates present under the earth keep rotating at a very slow speed. Every year these plates move 4-5 mm from their place. During this, some plate gets away from someone and some slips from under someone. During this, an earthquake occurs due to the collision of the plates.
