Rajendra Singh Rathore is facing a tough challenge in this election.

Rajendra Singh Rathore, born on 21 April 1955, is a big name in the politics of the state. Rajendra Singh Rathore, who started his career in student politics, did MA and then obtained LLB degree. He was elected President of the Students Union of Rajasthan University in 1979. Later he joined active politics and has been an important face of BJP in Rajasthan for more than 3 decades. Before BJP, he was associated with Janata Dal. He has been MLA 7 times.

Rajendra Singh Rathore became MLA from Churu Assembly seat for the first time in 1990 on Janata Dal ticket. However, before this he had lost in 2 elections. In the year 1980, he contested elections from Taranagar seat on Janata Party ticket but he lost and stood third. In the year 1985, Janata Party again gave ticket to Rathore and he stood second. After two consecutive failures, he managed to win the election in the third attempt.
After this he joined BJP and was elected from Churu on the saffron party ticket in the 1993 elections. Also won the elections of 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2018. However, out of the last 7 elections, he had won from Taranagar assembly seat in 2008 elections. Remaining 6 times he was elected from Churu only. Once again he is contesting elections from Taranagar seat. He has also been a minister during the regime of Vasundhara Raje Scindia.

Rathore is known as a powerful speaker. After Gulabchand Kataria was made the Governor of Assam at the beginning of the year, Rathore was given the responsibility of Leader of Opposition. He has also been associated with controversies. In 2006, liquor smuggler Dara Singh alias Dariya was killed in a police encounter in Jaipur. Investigation started on the complaint of the wife in which Rajendra Rathore also became an accused. The matter again reached the Supreme Court. CBI investigation was ordered by the Supreme Court. In which 17 people including Rathod were made accused. He was arrested in this case in April 2012. He remained in jail for 51 days. Later he was acquitted in the case.

In the election affidavit filed by Rajendra Rathod, it was informed that he has Rs 50 thousand in cash, his wife also has the same amount in cash. According to the affidavit, Rajendra Rathod has movable assets worth Rs 4.71 crore while his wife has movable assets worth Rs 3.28 crore. Also, Rajendra Rathore has immovable assets worth Rs 4.10 crore while his wife has immovable assets worth Rs 23.23 crore.
