Who will be the CM of Chhattisgarh?
By registering a historic victory in Chhattisgarh, BJP has settled a five-year old score with Congress. Out of 90 assembly seats in the state, BJP has won 54 and Congress 35. BJP has returned to power by registering an unexpected victory and now all eyes are on who will be the next Chief Minister of the state? Old is gold i.e. will it repose confidence in former CM Dr. Raman Singh or considering the political equation of Chhattisgarh, BJP will hand over the throne of power to a tribal or OBC face. In such a situation, which BJP leaders are leading and who are lagging behind in the CM race?
After the defeat in the assembly elections, Bhupesh Baghel has submitted his resignation to the Governor. After this, BJP has started efforts to form government in Chhattisgarh. BJP is going to form government for the fourth time in the state. BJP will hold a meeting with its MLAs in Raipur and choose the leader of the legislative party for the Chief Minister. After this, BJP will meet the Governor and stake claim to form the government.
BJP has contested the elections in the state on the face of PM Modi and did not declare anyone as the CM face. This time BJP played all kinds of tricks to win in Chhattisgarh. BJP fielded five MPs including a Union Minister. Many former ministers have also contested elections and have won. There is a discussion in the state that to whom will BJP hand over the command of power in the state?

Old is gold: Raman Singh
After the formation of Chhattisgarh, when BJP government was formed in 2003, the crown of Chief Minister was placed on the head of Dr. Raman Singh. He remained on the throne of power for 15 years. BJP had to face defeat in 2018, due to which this time the BJP leadership did not contest the elections under his leadership. BJP had definitely made him contest the elections, but the party had contested the elections on the name and work of Modi. Despite this, Dr. Raman Singh campaigned vigorously not only in his own seat but in the entire state. Due to this, it is believed that Dr. Raman Singh may get priority. He is considered to be the strongest contender in the CM race, but he is not able to fit into the changed political equation of the state. Apart from this, Raman Singh’s age can also become an obstacle, because he is 71 years old. In such a situation, will BJP once again hand over the reins of power to him?
What OBC gamble will BJP play?
In the politics of Chhattisgarh, BJP had to be out of power in the last elections due to resentment of OBC votes. This time too, Congress had played for OBCs in the elections and was promising everything from conducting caste census to increasing OBC reservation. In such a situation, BJP can try to make someone from the OBC community the Chief Minister. The first name in this list is that of BJP state president Arun Saav, who comes from the Sahu community of OBC. Sahu community has a big influence in the politics of Chhattisgarh, whose population is about 12 percent.
Even in the year 2003, BJP had not declared anyone as the chief ministerial face, but after the victory, the then state president Raman Singh was made the CM. This time also BJP did not make anyone the CM face. Due to this, the claim of State President Arun Sav on the post of Chief Minister is being considered strong. Another leader from the OBC community is OP Chaudhary, who is being considered a contender for the post of CM. Has become MLA from Raigarh seat. In 2018, he left the IAS job and joined politics. OP Chaudhary is considered close to Amit Shah. Due to this, there is a strong discussion about making him the Chief Minister.

Will BJP play tribal stakes?
The largest population in Chhattisgarh belongs to the tribal community, but after Ajit Jogi no one else could become the Chief Minister. If BJP makes someone from the tribal community the Chief Minister, the first name that comes up is Vishnudev Sai. He has become MLA from Kunkuri assembly seat. He is counted among the big tribal leaders of the state. Has been the state president of BJP in 2020. He has also been an MP and Union Minister. He is counted among the leaders close to the Sangh and has good relations with Raman Singh also.
At the same time, the second contender for the post of Chief Minister from the tribal community is considered to be Union Minister Dr. Renuka Singh, who is the Minister of State in the Modi government and has been elected as MLA from Bharatpur Sonhat seat. He has already been an MLA in 2003 and has also worked as the General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha. To garner tribal votes in 2024, BJP can play tribal cards. Tribal voters are very important in many states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. In this election, the tribal community has voted in favor of BJP in large numbers. Just like BJP had played the tribal card by fielding Draupadi Murmu in the Presidential elections. In such a situation, BJP can do this political experiment in Chhattisgarh.
Are these also the faces in the CM race?
Apart from these faces, Gomti Sai, Kedar Kashyap, Lata Usendi, Brijmohan Agarwal, Saroj Pandey, Ajay Chandrakar are contenders in the race for the post of Chief Minister from BJP in Chhattisgarh. However, OP Chaudhary, Lata Usendi, Kedar Kashyap had lost the last elections. This time the public has again expressed confidence in them. This is the reason why these faces are being speculated to become CM, but will BJP work on the strategy of handing over the reins of power of the state for 2024?
