6 people died due to rain
The rains caused by Michong have caused floods in many areas including Velachery and Tambaram. Last Wednesday also, due to problems, people left their homes and went to safe places. During this time he had to wade through knee-deep water on the roads. In such a situation, people have requested the administration for other help including sending boats. Due to rain, people are living in relief camps. 6 people also lost their lives due to rain. Many people have been rescued safely by the rescue workers.

CM visited the affected areas
State Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is keeping an eye on the situation. He visited many waterlogged areas to know the condition there and also distributed essential items to the people living in relief camps. Also took information about the efforts to extract water. The CM has appealed for help from the Central Government, he has written a letter to the Central Government demanding the release of flood relief amount of Rs 5,060 crore.

Giving information, State Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena said that water is being extracted from the areas and the supply of drinking water is also being ensured. He told that NDRF and SDRF personnel are fully prepared. Basic facilities like food and milk are being provided to the people. The Chief Secretary said that food packets have also been provided by air in some areas of North and South Chennai. He also told that boats have been arranged in the areas which have been most affected. More than 200 boats have been deployed in the submerged areas.

About 41,400 people took shelter in 372 relief centres.
The Chief Secretary also said that 372 relief centers have been set up in different districts, in which about 41,400 people are living. He also said that four districts have been most affected by the rains. Which includes Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpet, where more than 800 areas are filled with water. About 19,000 people have been evacuated from these places and sent to relief camps.
Airlines start operating, many trains canceled
The operation of the planes was stopped after the rain, which has now been started again. Southern Railway has canceled many rail services while the routes of many trains have been changed. However, Railways has announced the resumption of services on Chennai Beach-Chengalpet and Chennai Central-Arakkonam and Chintadripet-Vellacherry routes from Thursday.
