The names of the candidates are being announced by important parties associated with the state politics including Congress and BJP. Tonk district has a different position in the politics of the state and 4 assembly seats come under it. Out of 4 seats, 3 seats are with Congress and one seat is with BJP. Congress has captured the only Niwai seat in the district reserved for Scheduled Castes. Congress has not yet announced the name of the candidate for next month’s elections, while BJP has fielded Kanhaiyalal Chaudhary.

Talking about Niwai assembly seat in the 2018 elections, the main contest here was between BJP and Congress. Congress’s Prashant Bairwa got 105,784 votes while BJP’s Ram Sahay Verma got 61,895 votes. Prashant won the election with a big victory by a margin of 43,889 (25.6%) votes.
In the then elections, the total number of voters in Niwai seat was 2,40,714, out of which the number of male voters was 1,25,806 and the number of female voters was 1,14,904. Of these, a total of 1,71,675 (72.3%) voters cast their votes. A total of 2,253 (0.9%) votes were cast in favor of NOTA.

Talking about the political history of Niwai assembly seat, in the 7 elections held here since 1990, Bharatiya Janata Party has won 3 times while Congress has won 4 times. BJP had won in 1990 and this seat went to Congress in 1993.
