There is going to be a struggle for power once again in Rajasthan between the ruling Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Voting will be held for the new government in Rajasthan next month on 25th November. The excitement regarding elections has intensified in Tonk district of the state. There are 4 assembly seats under the district, in which Bharatiya Janata Party won one seat and Congress won 3 other seats. Malpura assembly seat is known by the name of Damodar Vyas, the Iron Man of Rajasthan and Home Minister in the state government. This seat is currently held by BJP. However, the name of the candidate from here has not been announced yet by both Congress and BJP.
How many voters, how much population

How was the political history?
If we talk about the political history of Malpura assembly seat, it was once held by Congress. This place has been occupied by the Vyas family. But after the delimitation of 2008, this seat went out of the control of Vyas family and the Jat community started dominating here. This seat has special significance in itself because Rajmata Gayatri Devi had contested elections from Malpura seat in 1967 on the ticket of Swatantra Party. However he had to face defeat.

The Vyas family was in possession of this place from the beginning. Damodar Vyas won elections in 1952, 1957 (elected unopposed) and 1967. Although Damodar Vyas lost the 1962 elections. Then Surendra Vyas won on Congress ticket in 1972, 1980 and 1990. In 1998, after not getting the ticket, Surendra Vyas was also elected as an independent candidate. Narayan Singh was victorious in the elections of 1977 and 1985, while BJP’s Jeetram Chaudhary was victorious in the elections of 1993 and 2003.

The condition of Congress has been bad here. Congress has not won the Malpura seat in the elections held since 1990. In 2008, independent Ranveer Pehalwan and in 2013 BJP’s Kanhaiyalal Chaudhary became MLAs. In such a situation, Congress will be eyeing victory from here while BJP will want to retain its control.
