Khandar Legislative Assembly Seat
Like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, assembly elections are going to be held in Rajasthan also next month. Voting will be held in Rajasthan on 25th November. Whereas the election results will come on December 3. Sawai Madhopur district has had special importance in the politics of the state. There are 4 assembly seats here, out of which Congress has won 3 and an independent candidate has won one seat, although BJP could not even open its account here. Congress is in control of Khandar seat. While Congress has given ticket to Ashok Bairwa for the elections to be held next month, BJP has fielded Jitendra Gothwal.
How many voters, how much population
In the 2018 assembly elections, Congress’s Ashok Bairwa got 89,028 votes from Khandar seat reserved for Scheduled Caste, while BJP’s Jitendra Kumar Gothwal got 61,079 votes. In a one-sided contest, Ashok Bairwa had won the election by a margin of 27,949 votes.
In the then elections, the total number of voters in Khandar seat was 2,19,834 in which the number of male voters was 1,17,518 and the number of female voters was 1,02,310. Of these, a total of 1,55,208 (71.9%) voters cast their votes. 2,736 (1.2%) votes were cast in favor of NOTA.
How was the political history?
If we talk about the political history of Khandar assembly seat, Congress has been in control here. In the 7 elections held since 1990, BJP has won 3 times while Congress has won 4 times. Congress leader Ashok Bairwa has so far contested elections from Khandar seat 5 times in which he has won 4 times. Ashok was earlier in government service and came into politics with VRS from the post of junior accountant.

In the year 1998, he contested elections for the first time on Congress ticket and surprised everyone by defeating Harinarayan Bairwa of BJP. After this victory, Ashok won two more consecutive elections. In 2003 and 2008 also, BJP’s Harinarayan Bairwa was defeated. After consecutive defeats, BJP changed its candidate in the 2013 elections and fielded Jitendra Gothwal, in which it also got success. But in 2018, Jitendra Gothwal lost the election from Ashok. Although BJP had won the elections of 1990 and 1993.
