Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital
A case of assault on an HIV patient has come to light in the Government Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH) of Indore. It is alleged that the patient did not tell the doctor that he was suffering from HIV. The doctor slapped him for such a simple thing. A video of this incident has also surfaced. When this video went viral on social media, a junior doctor posted in the hospital was suspended and a three-member committee was formed to investigate the matter.
Hospital officials said that on Saturday, a young man resident of Ujjain had come to MYH after being referred for the treatment of a broken bone in his leg. This 45 year old patient was suffering from HIV. But he did not inform the doctors about this disease. Later, when the doctor came to know about this, there was a lot of debate between the doctor, the patient and the family members accompanying him. It is being told that during this time the junior doctor slapped the patient lying on the stretcher several times.

It is alleged that the doctor also abused this patient. Coincidentally, someone present at the spot made a video of the entire incident with his mobile phone and posted it on social media immediately after the incident. Within no time this video started going viral. After this, MYH Superintendent Pramendra Thakur suspended the doctor seen in the video.

He told that this hospital is affiliated to the Government Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College. Therefore, the Dean of the college, Dr. Sanjay Dixit has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the matter. This committee will submit its report to him within three days. After this further action will be taken. On the other hand, a family member of the patient told that when the doctor was assaulting the patient, he tried to intervene. But the doctor raised his hand on him also. Said that he has lodged a complaint against the doctor on the Chief Minister’s helpline.
