Gopalji Patil of Congress has been on the third number here. The maximum number of 45 candidates were in the fray for this seat in Gujarat.
Limbayat came into existence in 2012 after delimitation. This is such a seat in Gujarat that is dominated by people from other states. BJP’s Sangeetaben Patil, who was holding this seat for the last two elections, has once again won this seat. This seat had a Muslim population, but the candidate of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party, Abdul Basir Sheikh, did not get the benefit.
Marathi people dominate the Limbayat seat. Along with Muslims, North Indians are also in majority here. There are about 80,000 Marathi, 76,000 Muslim, 28,000 Gujarati, 21,000 North Indian, 11,500 Rajasthani and 12,000 Telugu residents in this seat. A large number of people from outside come for employment in this area. That’s why the number of migrants is more here.
Water scarcity is the biggest issue here
Due to the migrant voters, the election campaign showed a different color here. In the election campaign, more external leaders were seen than local ones. However, BJP has dominance in this seat. At the same time, the problem of water is the biggest issue here. People here have to face water shortage during summer. Political parties promised to solve the water problem this time also. In this election, there was a challenge before the BJP to score a hat-trick. On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party threw full force in the elections by holding the attention of the public on the issue of water.
BJP in 2012 and 2017 assembly elections Had won this seat both the times. In 2017, Sangitaben Patil defeated Dr. Ravindra Suklal Patil of INC with a margin of 31,951 votes. Sangitaben Patil got 93,585 votes and Dr. Ravindra Suklal Patil got 61,634 votes. A total of 54.85 percent votes were cast here. And in the 2012 elections, Sangeetaben Patel defeated Sohnav Suresh Mohan of Congress by 30,321 votes. At that time Sangitaben Patil got 79,744 votes and the Congress candidate got 49,423 votes.
