Delhi In order to prevent dengue, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a high level meeting at his residence on Saturday and gave directions to the officials of the concerned departments to take necessary steps. After the meeting, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that this time the rainy season has gone long, due to which the risk of dengue may increase. In this regard, after meeting with the officials of Health Department, MCD, NDMC and other departments, the complete plan was prepared. Many steps will be taken in the coming days. Especially school children will be involved in the prevention of dengue on a large scale.
In the meeting held at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, along with the Chief Secretary, senior officers of all concerned departments were present. In the high level meeting, consultations were held on taking necessary steps to control dengue cases at the earliest. During this, the officials informed about the steps being taken to prevent dengue cases and to make public aware. The Chief Minister held discussions with the officials of the concerned departments to further expedite the dengue prevention measures and an action plan was prepared. The Chief Minister stressed that all the departments concerned should work in harmony with each other.
Delhi government will run awareness campaign
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the whole of Delhi together will defeat dengue this time again. At the same time, the district level officers have been directed to make people aware of the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases in their respective areas. For the prevention of dengue, cooperation of all RWAs and construction sites will be taken and government officials will also keep an eye on it in their offices. Also, the officials present in the meeting told that people are being made aware by running an awareness campaign on behalf of the Delhi government to save people from dengue. People are being told what necessary steps should be taken to prevent the spread of dengue. Where there is negligence in compliance with the guidelines, challan action is also being taken.
The cooperation of these people will be taken
In the meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence, it was decided that the cooperation of all the people would be taken for the prevention of dengue. School children will also have a special role in the awareness campaign. Children will be motivated to keep an eye on the fact that water does not stagnate in their homes. If water is accumulating somewhere, clean it with the help of family members and prevent the breeding of dengue mosquito larvae. During the meeting, the Chief Minister also directed all the government officials to check every day in their offices whether dengue mosquitoes are breeding due to accumulation of water at some places.
It was also emphasized in the meeting that water often stagnates at the construction sites, due to which dengue mosquitoes flourish, in the grip of which the laborers and other people working there come in the grip. To avoid this, instructions have been given to all the construction sites to take special care that water does not collect on their site or anywhere in the vicinity. If it has happened, clean it or put kerosene in the stagnant water, so that dengue mosquitoes do not breed. Not only this, all the Resident Welfare Associations i.e. RWAs have been asked by the Delhi Government to go door-to-door to spread awareness among the people and majorly join the awareness campaign.
Officers will inspect every Saturday, strict action will be taken if negligence is found
In the meeting, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has directed the officials to strictly follow the steps being taken for the prevention of dengue, saying that wherever there is a high possibility of water stagnation in Delhi including construction sites, hospitals, every Saturday. Make a surprise inspection of those places and if the guidelines issued in those places are not being followed properly then take necessary action immediately. Especially in hospitals, any kind of negligence will not be tolerated, because if dengue mosquitoes breed in hospitals, then patients there as well as their relatives can become victims of dengue. To ensure this, DM, SDM and Tehsildar and other concerned officers will visit their respective areas at the district level.
Instructions to the departments to take necessary steps
The Delhi government claims that all the concerned departments have been instructed to take necessary steps to prevent the increasing cases of dengue. Especially the Health Department is following the guidelines by coordinating with the concerned departments. Dengue and other public health activities are being prevented under the DMC Act and other similar Acts. Not only this, nodal person is being nominated for activities related to dengue prevention in organizations to ensure perennial anti larva measures, anti adult measures, resource reduction, continuous publicity and public participation. Delhi Jal Board has been asked to supply water regularly. Along with this, instructions have also been given to the Flood and Irrigation Department for timely cleaning of water sources and immediate repair of leaking water lines.
Action plan of Delhi government for prevention of dengue
- 35 hospitals have been identified for early diagnosis and supportive treatment of dengue.
- Every case of dengue is being notified.
- Case-based monitoring and quick response is being done by the concerned departments.
- Dengue is being under-reported by the government and private health facilities.
- Vector management is being done by the health and related departments, in which larval source management and fogging is being done.
- Monitoring, supervision and evaluation is being done at all levels by different organizations.
- Coordination and participation is being ensured among all the departments of Delhi Government.
The Delhi government claims that this time the Delhi government has made large-scale preparations to control dengue. People are being made aware through different mediums. It is being speculated that due to incessant rains for the last few days, dengue cases may increase further. In such a situation, the Delhi government is appealing to the people to unitely wage a war against dengue and join hands in the awareness campaign.
