india alliance
It was just a day before the election results. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called many opposition leaders. In a phone conversation, he gave information about the meeting of India Alliance to be held on 6th December. Kharge appealed to the leaders of the alliance partners to come to this meeting. By then the Congress leadership was confident that its government would be formed in MP, Telangana and Chhattisgarh. But when the results came, there was no good news for Congress from anywhere except Telangana. The Congress party, which had assumed leadership of the India alliance, is now on the back foot.
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav was watching the election results staring at the TV. Some close leaders of his party were also with him. Akhilesh Yadav was most interested in Madhya Pradesh. Where Kamal Nath was the Chief Ministerial candidate from Congress. It is because of Kamal Nath that there was no electoral coordination between Congress and Samajwadi Party in MP. Whereas Congress was ready for this in the meeting of the Coordination Committee of India Alliance held in Delhi.
Allies angry with Congress’s attitude
Kamal Nath had said that the alliance is not for the assembly elections but for the general elections. Since then, Akhilesh Yadav’s anger regarding Congress is at its peak. On the defeat of Congress in MP, a leader close to Akhilesh Yadav said a big thing in front of him. He said that now Congress will remain on the ground.

Despite being in alliance, many allies are angry with the Big Brother attitude of Congress. The names of Nitish Kumar, Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee are well known. All these leaders were assuming that the arbitrariness of Congress would increase as soon as it wins the elections. Akhilesh Yadav has seen a glimpse of this in the assembly elections. Nitish Kumar has also said that Congress people are not doing anything regarding the alliance. Immediately after which Congress President Kharge called him.
Defeat increased Congress’s problems
After this, it was decided in the meeting of India Alliance held in Mumbai that a formula for distribution of seats would be decided by October 30. But Congress had a different formula in mind then. The central leadership of the party wanted that homework on this should start after the assembly elections. The party had such feedback that Congress would perform well in the elections. In such a situation, Congress will get the upper hand on seat distribution. But nothing like this happened. Now it is the turn of Congress’s allies in the alliance.
Many big leaders of the allies may not attend the next meeting of the India Alliance. The strategy behind this is that regional parties want to target Congress. For this, these parties have decided to send their second rank leaders to the meeting. Till now, Congress’s stand regarding UP was that if things do not work out then it is ready to contest the elections on its own. Party’s state president Ajay Rai was continuously giving such statements. But now in the changed circumstances, Akhilesh Yadav is preparing to take revenge of MP in UP.

India alliance dispute will increase over seats
Psychologically, Samajwadi Party now has the upper hand in terms of coordination of seats. Akhilesh Yadav does not want Congress to get more space in UP. Mamta Banerjee also wants the same. He says that the distribution of seats should be at the state level. The power at the state level should go to the party which has the support base in that state. Akhilesh Yadav and Nitish Kumar also want the same. Akhilesh has already announced to contest elections on 65 seats despite being in the alliance. He has been continuously saying that Congress has no base in UP except Rae Bareli and Amethi.
Congress is also included in the coalition government in Bihar. RJD President Lalu Yadav is considered close to Congress. But neither Lalu Yadav nor Nitish Kumar is ready to accept the demand of Congress this time. Congress state president Akhilesh Prasad Singh is demanding eight Lok Sabha seats. But Nitish Kumar is in a mood to leave only two seats for Congress. After the defeat in the assembly elections, Congress is no longer in a position to exert much pressure. Regional parties included in the alliance allege that Congress simply does not want to participate. But now this will not work. RJD MP Manoj Jha also says that the responsibility of following the dharma of alliance is collective. So it is certain that Congress will be on everyone’s agenda in the India Alliance meeting.
