A strange incident has come to light in a marriage in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. Where the groom, the groom’s father and maternal uncle were taken hostage during the wedding itself. The hostage has been taken by none other than the people from the girl’s side. The name of the groom is Raj Verma and his father is Nanhku Ram Verma. The groom had reached Kevatli village with his wedding procession. Raj Verma’s marriage was fixed with Shakuntala, daughter of Baljor Nishad. After arriving with the wedding procession, everything was going well in the wedding. Suddenly the groom was taken hostage. Getting the opportunity, the wedding guests ran away from there to save their lives.
Actually, the groom had already had a love marriage with another girl. When he was satisfied with that girl, he gave his heart to another girl from a different community. The matter reached the point of marriage. The family members also got ready, because the boy from a high caste himself was ready for marriage. The wedding date has been fixed. The wedding procession also reached the door.
The groom’s first wife complained to the police
Meanwhile, during the rituals of Dwarchar, the team of UP 112 reached the spot. The marriage was stopped after seeing the police. It was told that the groom’s first wife had complained. He is already married. On hearing this, the temperature of the people of the girl’s side became high. The groom, his father and maternal uncle were taken hostage.
The girl’s side demanded the money spent on the wedding.
Seeing the deteriorating situation, the wedding procession, engrossed in celebration, immediately moved away from there. After getting information about hostage taking, the local police also reached the spot. With the help of the police, the groom’s side started finding a middle path. The people from the girl’s side were not ready to be released without the money spent on the wedding. Night became morning and morning became evening. This matter was not resolved.
Agreement reached in the presence of police
The groom’s side was not ready to compromise on the bride’s expenses. The Panchayat continued continuously. There was also a crowd of spectators. The police also kept threatening to register a case. After this, the writings were read out in front of the witnesses in the presence of the police. The groom’s side gave a written assurance to the bride’s side to pay the amount of Rs 3.50 lakh in three installments in three days.
3 to 4 lakh rupees were spent on the wedding
After this the groom, father and maternal uncle were released. In this case, the girl’s side claims that three to four lakh rupees have been spent on the marriage. On this matter, Additional Superintendent of Police East Vidyasagar Mishra said that the police is talking to both the parties after the incident. Any legal action will be taken only on the basis of talks with both the parties.
