One day he was sitting idle, when a girl named Gertrude Stein came to him. She asked Picasso a lot of questions and learned the tricks of painting. Influenced by Gertrude Stein, Picasso immediately created a magnificent painting and presented it to her. Later, when Picasso became famous, American art collector Albert Baan asked Gertrude the price of Picasso's painting. Upon learning that Picasso had gifted the painting, Albert did not believe it at all. However, the painting bore Picasso's signature and the message written by him forced one to believe.
Surprisingly, Picasso dedicated his entire life to painting and created more than one and a half lakh artworks. He has divided these into different stages of his life. Picasso also holds the record for most paintings being stolen. According to the Art Loss Register, thousands of Picasso's paintings were either stolen, lost or disputed. Even in later days, many of his paintings continued to be stolen. Between 2010 and 2012, many of Picasso's paintings were stolen. Picasso also wrote poems and plays. He died on 8 April 1973 at the age of 91.
