After plastic, vehicles will soon run on roads made of gypsum, NHAI has prepared a plan
Now after plastic and fly ash, NHAI i.e. National Highway Authority of India has decided to use phosphor-gypsum in collaboration with fertilizer and chemical companies for road construction. NHAI has announced field testing of this project. Phosphor-gypsum is a by-product of fertilizers. According to NHAI, using it as a waste material for building infrastructure will prevent carbon immersion.
Roads will be made of phosphor-gypsum
An Indian fertilizer company has used phosphor-gypsum in road construction. The road was evaluated by the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI). According to their report, the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) has given approval to phosphor-gypsum waste material for the construction of the road for a period of three years.
NHAI has prepared a plan
After checking the road made using phosphor-gypsum waste material, its field trial was approved, so that people trust these roads and they do not face any problem. NHAI is also promoting the use of plastic waste in road construction. Whose trial has been done many times before.
According to the report, roads made using plastic waste are durable and extend the life of bitumen. Not only this, the construction of a four-lane National Highway of one kilometer also helps in disposal of about seven tonnes of plastic waste.
Fly ash is also being used
NHAI has used ‘fly ash’ ie coal ash in thermal power plants (TPP) to make highways and flyovers. 12 million cubic meters of fly ash has been used in the construction of the 135 km long, six-lane ‘Eastern Peripheral Expressway’.
NHAI promotes the use of new materials and tries to reduce the carbon footprint. NHAI is focusing more on increasing durability and making construction more affordable.
