Internal papers include class tests, assignments and projects. Whereas, external exams are final exams, which are conducted by CBSE at different centres.
How many marks are needed to pass?

If a student is not able to do this, then the result of his external exam is withheld. But this cannot be done for more than one year.
Further, if a subject consists of both practical and theory, the candidate must secure 33% marks in theory and practical separately. Further, the aggregate of practical and theory papers should be 33% in that subject to be declared pass.
What is the rule of compartment?
Students who fail in any one of the five subjects of the external exam have to appear for the compartment paper of that subject, provided they pass in all the papers of the internal assessment. On passing the compartment exam, the candidate is considered completely passed.
