UP Schools: To promote Sanskrit education in Uttar Pradesh, continuous work is being done by the government. in this thread now UP Govt has decided that it will open 10 new Government Sanskrit Secondary Schools. An official of the State Education Department gave this information. These schools will be opened in 10 districts of the state, which include Varanasi, Rae Bareli, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Shamli, Jalaun, Etah, Amethi and Hardoi.
If we talk about the present time, then there is only one Government Sanskrit Secondary School and one Government Sanskrit Degree College in the whole of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, all the institutions providing Sanskrit education are being run privately. One of the top priorities of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is to open new intermediate level Sanskrit schools across the state. After getting the approval from the state government, the officials of the state directorate of education have formally requested the money for the construction of these new Sanskrit schools.

Schools up to Inter will open in these five cities
The thing to note here is that the state government had made a provision of Rs 100 crore in the budget of 2023-24 to open Sanskrit schools. Not only this, but the government is also preparing to open intermediate level government Sanskrit secondary schools in Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot and Mathura. These cities are being developed as major religious centres.
Earlier on March 22, Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar had written a letter to the District Magistrates of these five districts. In this, information was sought regarding having three acres of land for the construction of these five schools. It is worth noting here that in the budget of 2023-24, the state government allocated Rs 10 crore for providing scholarship to the students studying Sanskrit in UP.

At the same time, earlier Sanskrit students used to get a scholarship budget of two lakh rupees in the state. Recently, the officials of the Secondary Education Department sanctioned Rs 131 crore for providing scholarships to all students studying from school to college level in government, unaided and self-financed Sanskrit schools and colleges running in Uttar Pradesh. A proposal was sent to the state government.
