CBSE EXAM Evaluation 2023: CBSE has announced changes in the evaluation of 10th and 12th final examinations. Now more weightage will be given to merit based questions in CBSE board exams.

CBSE EXAM Evaluation 2023: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday announced changes in the assessment and evaluation process for class 9, 10, 11 and 12 final examinations in line with the National Education Policy (NEP). As per the revised scheme, the weightage has been increased for aptitude based questions, while it has been reduced for short and long answer type questions.
From 2023-24, there will be 50 percent merit-based questions in the question papers of class 9th final exam and class 10th board exam. CBSE said that the aptitude based or competency focused questions can be in the form of multiple choice questions (MCQs), case based questions, source based integrated questions or any other type of questions.
Earlier this was the weightage of merit based questions
Earlier, the weightage of merit based questions in class 9 and 10 was 40 per cent. CBSE said that in addition to the aptitude-based questions, the questions in the final examinations of these two classes will include 20 per cent multiple choice response type questions (MCQs).
40% of these questions will be asked in 12th
CBSE board has also reduced the weightage of short and long answer type questions. Now these questions will be of 30 percent of the total marks instead of 40. For class 11th and 12th, 40 percent of the questions in the board exam question papers will now be merit-based. Earlier it was 30 percent. Select response type questions (MCQs) will carry 20 per cent of the total weightage. The board said short and long answer type questions together will carry 40 per cent of the total marks instead of 50 per cent.
