PM Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif may meet in Uzbekistan next month. According to sources, this meeting is possible in the SCO summit meeting. The summit meeting of the SCO ie Shanghai Cooperation Organization is to be held on 15-16 September in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It is believed that PM Narendra Modi and Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif will participate in this meeting and both may meet in the SCO summit. However, a formal meeting between the two is not possible. There has been no formal meeting between the PMs of the two countries since the Pulwama terror attack.
The question is also that if PM Modi and Shahbaz Sharif meet, then on what issues will they talk. Will it include issues like cross-border trade and security. At present, any concrete information in this regard is awaited. The SCO meeting will be held in Uzbekistan on 15-16 September next month. Apart from Shahbaz Sharif, the Presidents of China, Russia and Iran will also participate in this summit. Sharif became the Prime Minister of Pakistan after ousting Imran Khan by bringing a no-confidence motion in April.

PM Modi had congratulated him on becoming the Prime Minister
On becoming the PM of Sharif, PM Modi had congratulated him by tweeting. He wrote that congratulations to Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on being elected the Prime Minister of Pakistan. “India seeks peace and stability in a region that is free from terrorism, so that we can focus on our development challenges and ensure the well-being and prosperity of our people,” Modi wrote. In response, Shahbaz Sharif thanked PM Modi and said that Pakistan wants peaceful relations and cooperation with India. India-Pakistan relations often remain tense and trade between the two countries has been closed for a long time.
