The decision of the International Criminal Court was declared void.
The war between Russia and Ukraine is going on since 24 February 2022. During this, Ukraine has accused Russia of atrocities several times. However, it was also said from the Russian side that its military forces did not commit any atrocities during the invasion of Ukraine. With this, it was said from the Russian side that the International Criminal Court’s decision to issue an arrest warrant for President Vladimir Putin is legally void.
Court’s jurisdiction not recognized
The ICC award is said to be legally void because it does not recognize the jurisdiction of the Moscow-based court. A Russian spokesman told Russian media that, like many other countries, Russia does not recognize the jurisdiction of this court. Russia is not even a member of the ICC, so from a legal point of view the decisions of this court are void.
