A shocking revelation has been made in a Pentagon report. In this report the US military sexual abuses cases have been uncovered. The Pentagon report said that a report by the US military showed a 13 percent increase in sexual assault cases last year. To know the reality of the problem like sexual abuse, the agency had conducted a confidential survey. After the disclosure of this report, many questions have also started to arise. In this confidential survey, 36,000 military members disclosed that they had experienced unwanted sexual contact. According to US defense and military officials, this time there has been an increase of more than 20,000 such cases.
Such a survey is being conducted since 2006. The figures that have come in 2021 are the highest. According to a Pentagon report, 8.4 percent of female workers admitted to sexual abuse in 2021, the highest rate since the department tracked the figures in 2006. For men, the figure was 1.5 percent, the second highest figure since 2006. The Pentagon has been trying to solve the problem by collecting such data since 2006, but this problem is increasing. After the release of the report, director Elizabeth Foster said that these figures are sad and very worrying.
Stirred after Pentagon report
Of the approximately 35,900 incidents estimated by the department, 8,866 sexual assault reports were reported from October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021. Similar survey was done in 2018
He said in the statement that the military leadership should take this into account and make any additional changes necessary to address this national embarrassment and crisis. If we fail to do so, we will further undermine the confidence of our soldiers. The Pentagon secretly conducted such a survey every two years. Earlier in 2018 also the survey was done. A similar survey was also done in the year 2018, but this time this number is the highest after 2013.
