Jemima Khan said that Princess Diana’s marriage to Charles, which took place in 1981, was an arranged marriage. Their marriage was essentially arranged, Jemima Khan said. This used to happen with the royal family here as well. I know this may sound like a really foreign concept, but if you look at the global population, the majority of marriages in the world today are still arranged.
Jemima Khan’s film focus on the concept of arranged marriage
Jemima Khan said, when Charles and Diana got engaged in 1981, Charles was 32 and Diana was 19 and they had met only a few times. He said that in his film he has focused on the concept of arranged marriage.
He said, the Assam issue is where arranged marriages are mixed with forced marriages. That said, as I get older, I think, if my parents could agree – and were functional and good at these things – I certainly could have benefited from being introduced to suitable candidates.
