China Taiwan tension: China has been rattled after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan and Beijing have begun large-scale military drills threatening to annex Taiwan.
In its first reaction on the Taiwan crisis, India said on Friday that both sides should refrain from taking unilateral action. On the Taiwan issue, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that like many other countries, India is also concerned about the recent developments. The ministry said that we request restraint and refrain from taking unilateral actions that change the status quo. India has called for efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and maintain peace and stability.
China stunned by Pelosi’s visit
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that India’s policies are already clear and there is no need to repeat them.
