Chhath, the folk festival of faith, was celebrated with great pomp. Women offered Arghya to Lord Surya and worshiped Chhath Mata and prayed for the well-being of their families. This festival was celebrated not only across the country but also in America, seven seas away, with the same grandeur. Here also the women of the Indian community performed Chhath Puja and offered Arghya to Lord Sun and sought blessings from Chhathi Maiya.
Hundreds of people of Indian origin from New Jersey and New York gathered in the coastal areas of America on Sunday to celebrate the auspicious festival of Chhath. The festival was celebrated by members of the Indian community, who gathered on both days for the festivities. Chhath Puja was especially celebrated in Papayani Park, Edison, New Jersey. Here the park was decorated with flowers, where women dressed in Indian attire performed traditional rituals.

Chhath Puja is a festival dedicated to the Sun, in which devotees worship the setting and rising Sun and offer Arghya to them. On Monday morning, the fasting people offered Arghya to the rising sun. Meanwhile, in Kathmandu too, devotees gathered at nearby holy water bodies on Sunday evening, and offered prayers to Lord Sun. Devotees especially observe fast and worship the Sun for the long life and well-being of their family members and also pray for the fulfillment of their expectations and endeavours.
