The rivalry between China and India on the Indian Ocean is not hidden from anyone. The Indian Navy is now getting the support of America in this part as well. But in the midst of this, what is happening on the Arabian Sea, perhaps no one is being noticed. The Arabian Sea has two major ports, Chabahar in Iran and Gwadar in Pakistan. Where India has one, China has bought the other. Chabahar’s deal was done in the year 2016 when the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi went on a visit to Iran. That deal was termed as strategically important for India. Gwadar Port is part of China’s China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The purpose of acquiring Gwadar was to establish its penetration on the Indian Ocean. Whereas Chabahar brings India closer to Afghanistan. Both the ports are quite different in their own way.
Distance of 172 km
Gwadar and Chabahar have a distance of about 172 kilometers and can be reached from one port to another in 5 to 6 hours. Both the ports are very big, it is not so. But their geographical location is such that they can make or break the strategic balance in South Asia. Gwadar port is very close to the Hormuz waterway. Because of this, China can easily reach the Indian Ocean. From here, apart from the Indian Navy, China can also keep an eye on the US Navy present in the Arabian Sea. Apart from this, what activities are happening in the Persian Gulf, China can also keep a close eye on it.

Now if we talk about the Chabahar port of Iran, then it comes in the Sistan province of Iran and comes to the south of Balochistan. Chabahar is the only port that provides India with a direct route to Iran. Chabahar has been a major center of trade for many centuries. This port is close to Oman and the Persian Gulf. Not only this, the weather of Chabahar port always remains like Miami port in Florida, USA. It is the coldest port in the Middle East. Its construction is going on since 1973 but due to lack of resources, it got delayed continuously.
India’s answer to Chabahar

China will be successful in spying the Navy of India and America in this area. Gwadar was a direct threat to India and the answer was Chabahar. India has completed the work of 213 km long Zaranj-Dilaram road in Chabahar.

This road originates from the Nimroj province of Afghanistan. This road helped Iran to upgrade the Chabahar-Milak rail road. But now experts are beginning to believe that Iran will not take the risk of getting away from China. But India’s activities on Chabahar are enough to show that it will neither weaken nor bow down in this part before China.
