But now the government is proposing that apps providing calling and messaging services may also have to take a license. For this, OTT has been included as a part of telecommunication service in the draft of the Telecom Bill 2022. According to the draft bill released on Wednesday, the companies concerned will have to take license for telecom services and telecom network.
Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has written on the social media platform that your views are needed on the draft of the Indian Telecom Bill-2022. He has also shared the link of the draft bill. According to the draft bill, the central government can waive any fee, partially or wholly, for any license holder or registered entity under the telecom rules. This includes entry fee, license fee, registration fee or any other fee or interest, additional fee and penalty.
