Brendon McCullum Gautam Gambhir: KKR icon Gautam Gambhir has recalled the incident of MS Dhoni apologizing to Brendon McCullum in front of the entire team before the IPL 2012 final match against CSK. Actually, before that final match, Lakshmipathy Balaji, who played for KKR, was suffering from hamstring problem, so KKR had to include veteran fast bowler Brett Lee in the final 11 in place of the Indian fast bowler. Now for the 4th foreign player, the team dropped Brendon McCullum from that match.
Gautam Gambhir shared the video!
Let us tell you that remembering that incident again, Gautam Gambhir shared a video from his official Instagram account. In which Gambhir made it clear that he had apologized to McCullum in front of everyone. However, in that final match, Brett Lee gave away 42 runs in his 4 overs without taking any wicket. Whereas Kolkata Knight Riders ultimately won that match by 5 wickets.
In the video shared, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir said, “Before leaving for that final in Chepauk, I actually apologized to Brendon McCullum in front of the entire team. I said 'I'm really sorry I had to leave you.' The reason for this is not your performance, the reason for this is our combination. Nobody wanted to do that. But I had the courage to apologize to him in front of the entire team. There is nothing wrong in apologizing.”
During this, he further said, “If I had not apologized in front of the entire team, then somewhere in my heart I would have felt guilty that I did not communicate properly. Leadership is not just about taking praise or silencing yourself or taking credit. “Sometimes it’s awkward, but that’s how you grow as a leader.” Let us tell you that after the victory in that final, Gautam Gambhir looked very happy and he even hugged McCullum and congratulated him.
