IPL: Last year, Lucknow Super Giants offered Taskin Ahmed as a replacement for the injured Mark Wood. But Bangladesh Cricket Board refused to give him NOC. Board’s Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus justified the decision. He said Bangladesh needed the 26-year-old Taskin for the crucial series against South Africa and Sri Lanka.
Taskin Ahmed gave statement about not being able to play IPL
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Taskin Ahmed revealed that the Supergiants approached him during the ODI series in South Africa with an offer to join the team. He said, “I got a call from Lucknow Super Giants during that ODI series. But I didn’t get NOC. At that time we had Tests against South Africa. Everyone dreams of playing in the IPL. I was a little sad about missing this opportunity.” He said, “The third ODI was the deciding match. I kept thinking, if I play badly in the third game, the public will think that I played badly because I didn’t get the NOC. If I do well, I will be satisfied that I did well in this situation.”

Taskin Ahmed idolises Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Wasim Akram
Taskin Ahmed further revealed that after finishing his career, he aspires to be counted among the legendary bowlers. He said, “Legends like Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Wasim Akram are my heroes. Bowlers like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Kagiso Rabada, Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood, these guys would go on to become legends by the end of their careers. If I can’t reach that level then there is no point in working hard. I have to get myself up to their level.”
