Sanket Sagar: India’s account has been opened with a silver medal on the second day of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. Sanket Sagar became the first player to win India’s medal. Sanket Sagar won India’s first medal in weightlifting in the 55 kg category.
Sanket Mahadev Sagar is a resident of Sangli, Maharashtra. Sanket’s father runs a paan shop in Sangli district. Sanket has a shy nature since childhood and does not talk much during his bout with anyone other than the support staff. Sanket has made many big achievements in his name in the last few years. He also won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Championships in December last year. Apart from this, he broke Commonwealth and National records by lifting 256 kg (113 kg in snatch and 143 kg in clean and jerk) at the Singapore Weightlifting International in February this year.

Sanket did another medal in his name
In Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Sanket Sagar won silver for India, which was India’s first medal in this Commonwealth. Sanket could have reached the gold medal in this match, but he got injured during the second attempt in the final. Despite the injury, he came for the third attempt, but his injury looked even more serious. Sanket missed out on Gold due to a difference of only 1 kg.
