Jeremy Lalrinnunga: Indian weightlifters continue to perform well in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. Now Jeremy Lalrinnunga has given India the second gold of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in the 67 kg category. Jeremy lifted a total of 300 kg to achieve this gold. This is India’s second gold and fifth overall medal in the current Games. Jeremy Lalrinnunga lifted a record 140 kg in snatch, while he was successful in lifting 160 kg in clean and jerk. He brought this gold to India by lifting a total of 300 weights.
Jeremy Lalrinnunga got injured on two occasions during the clean and jerk rounds but he showed great spirit without giving up. In this event, Samoa’s Wapwa Nevo won silver and Nigeria’s A. Joseph won the bronze medal. India has so far won five medals in the Birmingham Commonwealth. All medals so far have been in the name of weightlifters.

While Sanket Sagar won the silver medal in the men’s 55kg category, Bindiyarani won the silver medal in the women’s 55kg category. Apart from this, Gururaja Pujari has given India a bronze medal in the 61 kg category.
Big record has also been made in Youth Olympics
Jeremy had made a big record for India in the Summer Youth Olympics. He won the gold medal in the 62 kg category. Then Jeremy lifted 150 kg in snatch round 124 and clean and jerk, lifting a total of 274 kg, he made this record in his name. With this Jeremy became the first Indian to win a gold medal at the Youth Olympics. Jeremy also won the silver medal in the Asian Weightlifting Championship.
Qualified with gold last year
19-year-old Jeremy Lalrinnunga qualified for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games by winning the gold medal in the men’s 67kg category at the Commonwealth Championships held last year. In that competition, Jeremy achieved success by lifting 305 kg. Now he has made a big achievement by winning Gold in Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.
