Weightlifter Gururaja Pujari has won India’s second medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. Pujari won the bronze medal in the 61 kg event. He lifted a total of 269 kg. Gururaj lifted 148 kg in his second attempt in clean and jerk. Pujari then captured the medal in his third attempt by lifting 151 kg. Before Pujari, first weightlifter Sanket Mahadev Sargar won India a silver medal in the men’s 55 kg weightlifting event.

Snatch Round: Gururaja lifted 115 kg in his first attempt in the snatch round. After this, performing better in the second attempt, lifted 118 kg. He failed in the third attempt. In this way, his best performance in the snatch round was 118 kg.
