How Deepak became a wrestler
Player of Jhajjar district of Haryana, Deepak Punia has brought laurels to the country by winning gold medal. He won the gold medal by defeating Pakistani wrestler Mohammad Inam. Deepak hails from Chhara village in Jhajjar district. Deepak comes from a farming family. Deepak’s father has brought his son to this point today by selling milk along with farming. Deepak’s father told that from the age of 5, he started going to the arena. Even now, Deepak sweats in the arena for four to five hours every day. Deepak prefers home cooked food only. Deepak’s mother had passed away long back. Deepak’s father further said that he is sorry that Deepak could not win the medal in the Olympics, but he hopes that Deepak will definitely win the medal in the coming Olympics.

Villagers also praised after winning gold for the country
The villagers of Deepak are very happy after winning the gold medal for the country in the Commonwealth Games 2022. Former village sarpanch Jitendra and other villagers have also praised the hard work and penance of player Deepak Punia and his father. The villagers of Deepak say that the government should provide indoor stadiums and coaches to enhance the players in the rural environment so that more good players can come out. The villagers have demanded the government to build an indoor stadium in Chhara, the village of Deepak Punia.
