CWG 2022: In the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, India’s players have performed well so far. Meanwhile, India’s account has been opened in the track and field event of CWG 22. India’s high jumper Tejaswin Shankar has created history. He has won bronze medal for the country in high jump. In the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, India has so far won 18 in which 5 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medals are included.
Record jump of 2.22 meters
Tejaswin Shankar has won the bronze medal by jumping a record 2.22 meters. He started well by easily crossing the 2.10m mark, but was followed by four other athletes who crossed the 2.15m mark. Tejaswin jumped 2.15 meters in his first attempt. After this he jumped 2.19 meters. After this he jumped 2.22 which also proved to be his best effort and he secured the bronze medal in front of his name with this jump.

Tejaswin could not cross the 2.25m mark in his licking attempts. This was the reason why he missed out on the gold. If he had touched the figure of 2.25 meters, then the color of the medal could have been golden. Donald Thomas of Bahamas also failed in his 2.25m effort and Tejaswin won the bronze medal for India. Thomas decided not to take the last jump of 2.28 metres. He finished sixth in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
In this event, New Zealand Hamish won the gold and Australia’s Brendan Starc won the silver medal. Brendan Starc is the brother of Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc. And Tejaswin Shankar of India won the bronze medal in his name.
