Sanket Mahadev Sagar won the silver medal for India in the 55 kg category on the second day of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Sanket Sagar, 21, did an amazing job in the snatch round. Sanket topped his category by lifting 113 kg in his third attempt. In the 55 kg weight category, Sanket lifted 107 in the first attempt, 111 kg in the second attempt and 113 kg in the third attempt. It looked like Sanket could win the gold medal, but he got injured after his first attempt in the clean and jerk round. He lifted a total of 248 kg. He missed out on gold because of only 1 kg. Sanket won the gold medal with a national record in the Commonwealth Championships held in December last year. He won gold in snatch by lifting a weight of 113 kg.
