CWG 2022: India’s star wrestler Anshu Malik has lost in the final of her category in the Commonwealth Games. Anshu has to be content with silver.
India has got the first medal in the wrestling event of Commonwealth Games 2022 (CWG 2022). India’s Anshu Malik won the silver medal in the women’s 57 kg freestyle category. In the final, Anshu faced a challenge from Odunayo Adekuoroye of Nigeria. Adekuoroye won the match 7-3. India now has 21 medals. The Indian wrestler did not get a single point in the first period. While the Nigerian wrestler took 4 points. In the second period, Anshu gave a tough fight, but in the end won the gold among Nigerian wrestlers.
Anshu won the first match in 64 seconds
In her first match, Anshu faced Australia’s Irene Simondis in the quarter-finals. He won this match by 10-0. Anshu won the match on the basis of technical proficiency when the opposition wrestler could not score any points. Anshu won the match in 64 seconds and made it to the semi-finals.
Anshu easily won the second match
Anshu continued this form in the semi-finals as well. This match was also won by Anshu in 64 seconds on the basis of technical proficiency. In the semi-final, the Indian wrestler defeated Nethmi Poruthotage of Sri Lanka 10-0. Anshu did not give the Sri Lankan wrestler a chance to get up once he was slammed. With this win, Anshu ensured at least a silver medal in her first Commonwealth Games.

Anshu lost in the final
