TMC Cabinet Reshuffle: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has decided to reshuffle her cabinet. Five new faces can get a place in the cabinet. The reshuffle may be announced on Wednesday.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will reshuffle her cabinet due to the arrest of Partha Chatterjee in the teacher recruitment scam case. Mamta has already expelled Parth from the cabinet. Five new faces may join the Mamta cabinet. Mamta Banerjee said that we will reshuffle our ministry, but will not change it completely as is being claimed by some media reports.
Actually, there was an expectation of a change in Mamta’s cabinet. Senior minister Partha Chatterjee was removed from his post after crores of rupees notes were recovered. Another senior minister, Subrata Mukherjee, passed away last year. Mukherjee handled several important departments including the Panchayat Department. Sources said that five new faces will be brought in the cabinet. The reshuffle may be announced on Wednesday. Four existing ministers will be removed. He will be given the responsibility of strengthening Trinamool Congress.

Partha Chatterjee was second in the government
Partha Chatterjee was called number two in the Mamata Banerjee government. He had got powerful positions in the party and government. He held high-profile ministries such as Commerce and Industry, Parliamentary Affairs, Information Technology and Electronics and Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction. Along with this, he was also the General Secretary and National Vice President from TMC.
What is teacher recruitment scam?
In 2016, the School Service Commission (SSC) of West Bengal conducted the examination to recruit 13,000 teaching and non-teaching staff. The result of the examination came on 27 November 2017. After the result, a merit list was prepared, in which Babita Sarkar of Siliguri was in the top 20 with 77 marks. But later the commission canceled this merit list and prepared another list in its place. Babita Sarkar’s name was in waiting in this list.
