Azam Khan: Politics has started heating up in UP after the acquittal of socialist leader and former minister Azam Khan in the hate speech case. The SP has opened a front against the UP government regarding this. On the instructions of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, a delegation of 27 members of the party will go to meet the DM of Rampur. In which 3 MPs (2 Lok Sabha and 1 Rajya Sabha) and 11 MLAs will be together. Tell me that on May 24, 2023, Rampur’s special MP MLA court had made strict remarks on the DM while acquitting Azam Khan in the hate speech case. After this, the SP has also targeted the then DM Anjaneya Singh.
Was it a matter of hate speech
Please tell that in the Lok Sabha elections 2019, SP leader Azam Khan Rampur was fighting the Lok Sabha elections from the Samajwadi Party. At the same time, the then DM Rampur and present commissioner Anjaney Singh had registered many cases of hate speech in violation of the code of conduct. Azam Khan had won the election of MP from this seat. After this, Azam also contested the assembly elections from Sitapur Jail and resigned from the Lok Sabha after winning the election. But in one of these cases, the Rampur special court had sentenced Azam to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of 8 thousand in last October 2022. After which Azam’s assembly membership also went away. acquittal on reversion of the complainant
Let us tell you that the case of hate speech was lodged by the complainant officer Anil Kumar Chauhan against Azam Khan. In the hearing of this case, when the turn came again to record the statement of the officer, Anil Chauhan told the court that I had registered this case under the pressure of the District Election Officer. Only after this, Sessions Judge of the Special MP MLA Court, Amit Veer Singh, made a strong remark in his order that if hate speech was given against the DM, then he himself was capable of taking action. By not doing so, he got the case registered by putting pressure on the subordinate officer. On this basis, the sessions judge acquitted the SP leader by setting aside the sentence of October 27.
