Congress General Secretary Ajay Maken alleged that Kejriwal was not removing Sisodia from the post of Deputy Chief Minister because the strings of the matter would connect with him.
Maken also challenged Kejriwal to debate on the excise policy. He told reporters, “Talk to Kejriwal ji about the liquor scam, he will talk about education. We want to ask him to clarify what he has to say on the liquor scam.”
Maken said, “Of the liquor shops opened by the Kejriwal government, more than 90 percent are in residential areas. This is a violation of the master plan.”
He said, “The Municipal Corporation and the DDA (Delhi Development Authority) could have sealed these shops, but they did not do so in time. That’s why questions are raised on the BJP as well.”
The Congress leader claimed that the Kejriwal government waived off liquor license fee of Rs 144 crore of liquor mafia.
He said, “It is completely a matter of corruption. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power in the name of removing corruption, but now Kejriwal and Sisodia are themselves involved in corruption.”
Maken said, “If Sisodia does not resign, he should be sacked. Kejriwal ji is not removing him, because after doing so the strings of this matter will be attached to him.”
On August 19, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at several places, including the residences of Sisodia and former Delhi Excise Commissioner A Gopikrishna. Earlier, the central agency had registered an FIR on allegations of alleged corruption and bribery in framing and implementing the excise policy brought in in November last year.
