Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is coming on a four-day visit to India on 5 September. Earlier, he described Rohingya Muslims as a challenge for his country. He said – these are a huge burden for the country and he feels that India can play a big role in finding a solution to this issue.
Sheikh Hasina said- There are more than one lakh Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh. Everyone knows that this is a big burden for us. India is a big country, you can accommodate them. We’re not just talking about you. Talking to the international community and neighboring countries, they should take some steps so that Rohingya Muslims can go back to their country.
some people are drug smuggling
He said- We had given them shelter on humanitarian grounds. We have provided everything needed. During the Corona period, all Rohingyas were also vaccinated. But how long will they be here? They are living by making camp. Some people are caught in the business of drug smuggling, arms and women smuggling. The sooner they go to their country, the better.
India is Bangladesh’s ‘tested friend’
He described India as a ‘tested friend’ of Bangladesh. He said- India sent several consignments of vaccine to Bangladesh under the Vaccine Friendship Program. This is also commendable. He stressed on maintaining strong cooperation between neighboring countries. He said there may be differences between India and Bangladesh, but they should be resolved through dialogue.
India helped in difficult times
Sheikh Hasina also praised Prime Minister Modi for helping in difficult times. He said- Many of our (Bangladesh) students were stuck in Eastern Europe amid the war between Russia and Ukraine. They were brought to India after the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Hasina said- Many students of Bangladesh had gone to Poland after escaping the war. But when the Indian government was engaged in saving Indian students, they did not leave our students in trouble. He also brought our students back home.
