In a 2019 Modi surname defamation case, the Surat Sessions Court on March 23 convicted Rahul Gandhi and sentenced him to two years in prison. After which yesterday, on March 24, 2023, by issuing a notification from the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Rahul Gandhi’s membership of Parliament was cancelled.
