At present, more than 325 former MLAs are getting pension in Punjab. Earlier the MLAs were drawing multiple pensions based on the number of posts won in the elections. The MLAs were getting pension ranging from Rs 3.50 lakh to Rs 5.25 lakh per month, which was proving to be a big burden on the exchequer of Punjab.
