Before the meeting of Mamta and Modi, Dilip Ghosh said, Mamta uses such meetings to give a political message. He said, “Mamata Banerjee uses her meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to send the message that the setting has been done. The central government should pay attention to this matter and should not fall in the trap of Mamta.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Banerjee, who arrived in Delhi, met party MPs here. Mamta discussed with him about the current session of Parliament and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Sources said that Banerjee’s nephew and party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was quite vocal during the meeting and suggested what issues the MPs should raise in the last days of the monsoon session of Parliament. Both categorically told their party MPs not to ‘fear’ the BJP.
Mamta will also meet President Draupadi Murmu
Banerjee is scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Sources said that in the meeting with Modi, he is likely to discuss the GST dues of West Bengal.
May also meet Sonia
Mamta Banerjee can also meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Apart from this, the Chief Minister of West Bengal will attend the meeting of NITI Aayog on 7 August. He said a meeting with non-Congress opposition leaders like DMK, TRS and AAP is also to be held on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Trinamool MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay said, “We had met (Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister) Giriraj Singh and he had promised to solve the MGNREGA issue within 48 hours. It has been more than a month and all I have received is a counter letter, which I have given to Mamata Banerjee.
Mamta will not talk to the media
Sources indicated that Banerjee is unlikely to address the media as former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee has come under the scanner of the ED in the cash-for-jobs scam in the state. Prime Minister Modi will chair the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog on August 7, in which issues related to agriculture, health and economy will be discussed.
