Congress-separated Ghulam Nabi Azad is going to hold a rally in Sainik Colony of Jammu on Sunday. This will be his first meeting after leaving the Congress. It is believed that during this time he can also launch his new party.
Azad has reached Jammu airport on Sunday morning and left there with a crowd. After the resignation, there were speculations of Azad joining the BJP. But, Azad had made it clear that he would soon announce a new party and its first unit would be in Jammu and Kashmir, where assembly elections are due at the end of the year.
64 Congress leaders from Jammu will also attend
Azad left the Congress on 26 August. After him, four leaders, including the former deputy speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, also resigned from the Congress. Apart from these, former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Tara Chand, former minister Majid Wani and Manohar Lal Sharma also left the Congress. Altogether 64 leaders will join Azad’s new party on 4 September.
Azad had said that neither I benefit nor BJP
After parting ways with the Congress, Azad had said that the alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party is neither beneficial for him nor for the BJP. Azad will have the option of forging an alliance with the BJP or the National Conference or the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir.
Answer given on Congress’s DNA statement
Many Congress leaders are now openly making rhetoric against Ghulam Nabi. Recently, the Congress questioned Azad’s DNA. A party leader had said that Azad’s DNA has changed to Modi-may. Now Azad has hit back at the Congress on the question being raised on his DNA. If you meet and talk to people from other political parties, it does not change your DNA, he said.

On 5 August 2019, the Central Government abolished Article 370 and Article 35A from the Constitution. After this, all the big leaders including Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah were detained and placed under house arrest, but Ghulam Nabi was free even at this time.
Ghulam Nabi Azad is not a member of either house of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha since February 2021. He does not have any other important position. Despite this, his bungalow in Lutyens was not vacated. The extension of his bungalow was given in August 2022 itself.
On August 29, Ghulam Nabi Azad said in response to a question, ‘I used to consider Modi ji a cruel man. I used to think that if they haven’t married and don’t have kids, they don’t care, but at least they have humanity in them.
