CM Kejriwal: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced on Thursday today that by March-April 2024 next year, the people of Delhi will get rid of the mountain of garbage. After that the mountain of garbage will not be seen in Delhi. This is my promise to Delhi. Earlier, at the beginning of Delhi’s MCD election campaign, CM Kejriwal had promised the public that not a single garbage mountain would remain.
Know what the CM announced
Addressing the people of Delhi, CM Kejriwal said that it took about 30-35 years for the mountain of garbage to stand at the Ghazipur landfill site. I have decided to remove it within the stipulated time for the benefit of the people of Delhi. Now the work of removing this mountain has started fast. The CM said that apart from Ghazipur, similar mountains of garbage have also formed in Okhla and Bhalswa. The speed with which the work of removing the mountain of garbage is going on, about 30 lakh tonnes of garbage has been removed so far. The Delhi government is hopeful that according to the way the work is going on, we will be able to remove the remaining 50 lakh tonnes of garbage by March-April 2024 next year.

Promised in MCD elections
In November, during Delhi’s MCD election campaign, the capital’s biggest mountain of garbage went to the Ghazipur landfill site. Where the local residents had raised the huge problem of the area in front of the CM. Taking it seriously only after that, CM Kejriwal had promised two crore people of Delhi in his public meetings. He had said that if you uproot this double engine government of the opposition from the MCD of Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party will uproot these mountains of garbage. On the demand of the CM, the public formed the government in MCD with a huge majority of AAP. The new MCD Mayor Shaili Oberoi then visited the Ghazipur landfill and immediately started the work of removing the mountain of garbage as per the AAP government’s promise.
