Special warmth was not seen in LG and CM
LG Vinay Kumar Saxena reached the Vidhan Sabha on Friday for the first time after assuming the office of Lieutenant Governor, where he was received by the Speaker Ram Niwas Goel. The CM also greeted him, but there was no special warmth between the two sides. Apart from this, the LG’s speech at the beginning of the budget session is usually very long and lasts for more than half an hour, but this time the LG’s speech was short and ended in only 23 minutes. LG counted the achievements of the Delhi government
In his speech, LG described Delhi’s economy as strong, mentioning all the achievements of the Delhi government in various fields. However, due to the ruckus of the opposition, he had to stand for about 12 minutes before starting the speech. At the beginning of his address, the LG said, ‘I am very happy to state that my government in the last 8 years has provided good governance based on the principles of transparency, accountability and sensitivity. Despite various constraints, my government has taken several initiatives on many fronts and has created a strong foundation, which will help in building a developed and prosperous Delhi.
The LG said that Delhi’s economy has the qualities of a strong economy despite the Covid pandemic. The pandemic has certainly adversely affected the demand and supply of goods and services in the economy, but despite this Delhi has stuck to strong economic fundamentals. The LG gave a brief account of the achievements of the government in key areas such as economy, education, health, transport, tourism, energy, social welfare.

CM said – the elected government should be allowed to work
CM Kejriwal said that these are small things. Democracy should be respected. If 2 crore people have elected a government, then that government should be allowed to work. If you do not allow the government to work, if you create various kinds of obstacles, then it is not good. Referring to the LG’s speech, the CM said that ever since the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed in Delhi, there has been quadruple progress day and night in every area. Tremendous progress has been made in the last 5-7 years in education, health, electricity, water, tourism, infrastructure. We will keep it going forward.
The CM said that Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has also appreciated the work of the Delhi government in his address. Counting the achievements of the Aam Aadmi Party government in front of the people of Delhi, he has told how the Delhi government has done a great job despite all the hurdles and challenges. Not only Delhi, but the people of the entire country also believe that the Delhi government is doing a good job. CM said that every person should respect democracy and let the elected government do its work.
LG counted the works of the government
- Delhi’s GDP is set to increase from Rs 6,16,085 crore in 2016-17 to Rs 9,23,967 crore in 2021-22, despite the price hike. This increase is about 50 percent.
- Compared to the year 2020-21, Delhi’s per capita income has increased by 16.81% to Rs 4,01,982 annually in 2021-22.
- During the academic session 2021-22, the pass percentage of class 12th was 98% and the pass percentage of class 10th was 97%.
- The Delhi Board of School Education was established, which has partnered with the International Baccalaureate to provide state-of-the-art education in schools.
- Pension has been paid to 4.08 lakh and 1.10 lakh beneficiaries with special needs under the Old Age Assistance Scheme.
- 1668 poor widows were sanctioned a lump sum amount of Rs 30,000 under the financial assistance scheme for the marriage of their daughters. Apart from this, financial assistance was also provided to 3.50 lakh distressed women.
- The construction work of underpass and flyover at Ashram Chowk has been completed.
- Underpass from Purana Qila Road to Benito Juarez Marg, bridge over Najafgarh Nallah at Basai Darapur and elevated road from Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar at Barapullah Phase-III have been completed.
- 1,35,500 CCTV cameras have been installed all over Delhi.
- New hospitals are being built at Jwalapuri, Siraspur, Madipur and Vikaspuri. Along with this, 19 existing hospitals are also being remodeled.
- The government has also expanded the subsidy on electricity to domestic consumers.
- The number of buses in the DTC fleet has increased to 4,010. These include 3,760 low floor buses and 250 electric buses. Soon 1500 more electric buses will be added.
- Days with ‘severe’ air quality were 24 in 2021, down to 6 in 2022.
