Ravil Maganov, chairman of Russia’s Lookoil Company, was found dead. He was admitted to the biggest hospital here. What were the recruits, they were imprisoned. He fell from the window of the same hospital. He died after falling from the fourth floor. He was the first Russian industrialist to oppose Putin. He called the war with Ukraine against humanity. Since then, various sanctions were being imposed against him. were eventually found dead.
In fact, long tenure of power makes the ruler a dictator. Especially in countries where elections are not held democratically. In the name of election, some people do rhetoric and the nomination gets done. This process is known as limited franchise. As it used to happen in India during the British rule. Only a few Vice-Chancellors, judges and owners of tea gardens used to have the right to vote.
However, in such countries the rights of the people are not there. They only have words. …and anyone who dares to speak against the government or criticize the government policies is similarly found dead under the window of a building or a hospital. Such incidents have increased in Russia now. To stop all this, the then President of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, made constant efforts.
He was successful in giving the message of peace to the world, but bringing openness in his own country cost him dearly. The country broke into many pieces. One of these is Russia. Russia’s president, whether it was Boris Yeltsin or the current president, Vladimir Putin, both ruthlessly crushed Gorbachev’s efforts for peace and openness. The dictatorship which Gorbachev devoted his whole life to end, Yeltsin ruled with the help of the same dictatorship, and now Putin is doing the same.
His tenure is very long. From 1999 to 2000 and from 2008 to 2012, he was the Prime Minister of Russia, while from 2000 to 2008 he was the President. His current term started from 2012. Since then he has been the President continuously. When the term is so long, then it is inevitable for a person to become a dictator. So Putin is doing whatever he wants. The world is suffering because of his insistence on war with Ukraine. And whoever is opposing it, he is eating his mouth.
Their Chinese friends are also following in their footsteps. Last year, Xi Jinping changed his party’s rule of not being president for more than two terms. Now soon he is going to confirm his one more term. In a huge meeting of his party, soon he is going to be re-elected as the leader. This state of dictatorship must end. After all, someone in this world should do something for civil rights! Somebody fight!
